Elgiganten’s new 91 000 sqm Logisticsa Facility in Torsvik
Challenge
Elgiganten Logistik AB faced the task of establishing a new logistics site of 91,000 sqm in Torsvik, Jönköping, near its existing operations. The project included not only the construction of the new facility, but also the development of the logistics setup, the establishment of a joint planning function, the relocation of operations from the Czech Republic, and the coordination of all IT systems.
The scale and complexity of the project placed high demands on clear management and coordination, as well as a long-term focus on ensuring a smooth handover to the line organization.
The assignment
Focused Minds was tasked with appointing the lead project manager for the establishment of the new logistics site. Petter Kellgren was responsible for planning, leading and coordinating the different parts of the project, as well as ensuring that resources, timeline, and budget were maintained throughout the implementation.
Implementation
The project was carried out in a complex environment involving many functions and stakeholders. The work included coordinating construction, logistics setup, relocation of operations, and integration of IT systems.
Through clear project leadership and effective coordination of resources, the establishment was delivered according to plan. Despite the project’s large scope, the facility was completed on schedule and within budget, while creating strong conditions for a stable handover to the line organization.
