Nederman’s New Facilities in Helsingborg
Utmaning
Since its founding in 1944, Nederman had operated from the same facilities in Helsingborg, which had been gradually expanded over time. As the years passed, the facilities became increasingly cramped and no longer fit for the company’s needs. The challenge was to replace a functioning but limited facility with a modern and scalable solution, without disrupting the ongoing operations.
To meet future demands, Nederman decided to invest in a completely new facility in Helsingborg. The new site includes nearly 20,000 square meters of production and warehouse space, a development center, an Experience Center, and a head office with more than 200 workstations. The project was complex, involving procurement, construction follow-up, and a large-scale relocation. It placed high demands on planning, coordination, and expertise beyond the organization’s day-to-day capabilities.
Assignment
Focused Minds supported the project with two consultants, both of whom played key roles in its execution. The assignment included overall project management for monitoring the construction project, as well as sub-project management for production and warehouse operations. The scope also included managing communication with the landlord and contractors, as well as ensuring that the project was delivered on time and within budget.
In addition, Focused Minds supported the organization with tenant installations and investments, ranging from technical systems such as compressed air to interior design and furnishings. The assignment also included project management of the extensive relocation, where more than 200 workstations, 25 assembly cells, and several thousand pallet locations were moved safely and cost-effectively.
Execution
The project was organized into several teams responsible for different areas, such as production, warehouse, office, dining/reception, and overall building systems. Each team identified needs, defined investments,
and developed plans for their respective areas, as well as reviewed relevant documentation. The work was coordinated and continuously followed up by Focused Minds through the team leads.
A key success factor was the close collaboration between the project teams and the strong commitment from all involved. Through systematic follow-up, both schedule and budget were maintained, while also improving administrative efficiency. The mutual trust between Nederman’s management, the project members, and Focused Minds was also a critical foundation for the project’s success.

Quote
“Focused Minds contributed with expertise and resources in an area outside Nederman’s core business, which was very valuable in this project. They worked efficiently and maintained strong control of both details and the overall picture.”
